It has been a busy late summer into fall!
A new session of the Colorado Springs Creative Writing Workshop is underway with eight great writers. The Mountains & Plains Booksellers Association annual trade show was in Denver a few weeks ago and the Colorado Independent Publishers Association has begun a new year of monthly meetings.
The current session of the Writers Workshop runs through Nov. 8. Check back in late October for the 2007 schedule.
The MPBA trade show was a great opportunity to visit with old book store friends and make some new ones. Dialogue Publishing was quite pleased to have two award winning fiction titles to promote and to have the opportunity to work with Steve Garvan from Garvan Marketing again. A special thanks to Nancy Mills of Pie in the Sky Publishing for saving me one trip up and down I-25 and letting me stay overnight at her house!
I joined the Colorado Independent Publishers Association Board of Directors in September as Program Chair. September's meeting explored selling to book stores. October's meeting will cover different publishing business models and in November putting together a great business plan will be the focus. If you have a program suggestion, please let me know. --Sue
