Reader Raves for Cleaning Closets -- posted by Susan Lutz Hamilton

Susan DeBow's novel "Cleaning Closets" has struck a chord with readers all over the country.
Here's some of the terrific feedback we have received:
“Your metaphor of cleaning closets for sending your message about life, how most all of us stuff, pile, hide, and rid ourselves of facing head on what's really happening, what's important, what's painful, what's distasteful, is clever and offers a new twist on self-help--via fiction.” – Alice, South Carolina
“This book is delicious to read. Make sure you have time set aside, because you won’t want to put it down. The characters become real as the pages unfold, and the plot twists just when you think you see what is coming next.” - Renate, Ohio.
"Woo-hoo, girl! I loved it. It had lots of surprises, lots of true-to-life family stuff. I really, really liked it.” – Barbara, Arizona
“Lydia should have a sequel, all about her trip to Europe and whatever else happens next."
"Well, Susan, I finished your book last week! I was not getting in any quality reading time so I ended up blowing off work for two days to finish it. I haven't stopped thinking of it since. I really liked it a lot. Only a daughter, sister, mother and friend could have written it. You were perfect.”
“Lydia was my favorite. At first I did not like Grace at all but, of course, that changed. When you wrote about the bruises on her stomach with her husband being the natural suspect, I remember thinking that, even though he was a creep, I didn't get that vibe from him. I liked the twist. And what a twist about Walter! When Grace was so upset about not belonging, finding her birth parents, etc., I kept wondering how you were going to fix that, if at all. Of course, there are lots more parts and words I like and remember each day. I really liked it a lot."
"I love your book and am losing sleep because usually I read a few pages and I'm out at night, but with your novel I can't stop turning pages and suddenly it's two hours later!! What a wonderful story. Each character is so rich and real to me. I love them all. Thank you for doing what you do."
“You're so good at leading us on with just enough info to keep those pages flying.”
“It's so comforting, maybe even life changing for some to read about siblings, parents and kids, any relationships where there can be so much ‘ugliness,’ misunderstanding, anger, hate.. (just to know that you're not the only one who has had that) and to read that others have all that and can come around and still love each other and open up and fix some things and forgive and be okay. Not that you don't already know all that, but I was just thinking it after I read the book myself.”
Share a copy of the book with friends and family this holiday season. -- Sue
